For the 6th consecutive year, Pets Canada honours its hard-working members. These awards recognize the efforts of all companies and individuals who work hard for the welfare of animals through public education on pet care, responsible pet ownership and their involvement in the pet community. As a reminder, the categories are as follows:

Distributors Sales Representative: Carl Eldridge, Leis Pet Distributing Inc.

”I absolutely love my job!! I truly enjoy the interactions with my customers and working together to choose the perfect products and strategies to make a real difference in their stores and the lives of their customers pets. I’m also very lucky to have such an amazing team at Leis Pet. I humbly appreciate the nomination. Good luck to all.”

Manufacturer Sales Representative: Daemon Stott, Open Range

”With many of the people I’ve met through my work I’m also so lucky to have created many friendships that have been monumental in my life. Helping families and their pets is the greatest reward because like everyone in our industry, I LOVE PETS and I love people. And it’s my job to help both have happiness!”

Independent retailer: Blue Ribbon Pet Supply

”We at Blue Ribbon strive to support those in our community at their best and worst times that is our number one priority. We also constructed a Blue Ribbon Pet Supply Financial Assistance Program to help those who are having trouble paying their vet bills. We love local and Canadian.”

Chain Store retailer: Global Pet Foods (Hespeler)

” Global Pet Foods Hespeler takes pride in helping in the community whenever we possibly can; one of our favourite things was helping our partner charity Miss Dixie’s Foundation grow from back door pickups of damaged/expired product to connecting with distributors to pick up skids of product which is then distributed to rescues and charities all over Ontario.”

Pet Service Provider: Cat Sitter Toronto

” I have always been an animal lover, growing up on a farm instilled this love from an early age. We always had cats at home growing up, I’ve even assisted during some difficult kitten births. Currently, I have 2 fur babies and 3 human babies, I’ve even managed to corrupt my husband into a cat lover!”

This year, in addition to our annual slate of award categories, we are proud to introduce a new category: John and Kelly Ayres Philanthropy Award for manufacturing and distribution companies. This focuses on aiding the pet community through support events and initiatives, involvement in animal and pet business advocacy issues, supporting the right of responsible pet businesses to offer healthy pets to the community, and mentoring up-and-coming pet businesses.

Over 4,000 people voted, showing overwhelming support for all our nominees and everyone working in the pet industry, an industry we’re proud to be a part of. Congratulations to the nominees and the winners of the Canadian Pet Community Awards Eastern 2023 edition!
