Smithville, Ontario – Pet owners have something to celebrate as Geraldine and Rob Brouwer, the dedicated owners behind Big Country Raw, proudly introduce their latest advancement in pet nutrition – Caravan Country Cookhouse.
This innovative venture represents a natural extension of their expertise in the frozen pet food industry. The mission was clear: to develop a premium-quality, gently cooked pet food that offers Canadian pets an exceptional level of nutrition and value. To achieve this objective, the Brouwer team partnered with certified Agrologist Julie Lauzon, M. Sc., a pet nutrition expert, to create an incredibly nutritious gently cooked recipe, a step close to raw without being raw, setting a new standard in the industry.
The Caravan journey began with the discerning palate of Peaches, Rob and Geraldine’s picky Cavapoo. Her selective tastes played a crucial role in crafting the most wholesome and delectable recipes. Caravan Country Cookhouse is a small batch, kettle-cooked nutritionally balanced meal, ready for canine enjoyment. Cooked at a low temperature and then flash frozen to retain maximum nutrition. Loaded with 80% fresh meat, and 20% fruits and vegetables, and carefully chosen seeds, oils, and spices.
An investment in category and brand research provided key insights which were then leveraged for the development and positioning of Caravan Country Cookhouse. This ensured that the brand would appeal to Canadian pet parents and provide the brand with a “leg up” once launched.
While Caravan Country Cookhouse has just been launched, pet nutrition is far from new to our team. In 2012, Big Country Raw was born from a desire to ensure that the best nutrition is accessible to Canadian pet parents. Since then, our pet nutrition experts have perfected raw nutrition for Canadian pets, becoming a trusted and familiar household brand name. Caravan was the logical next step in our quest for optimal pet nutrition!

Caravan Pet will be exhibiting for the first time at the Pets Canada show on September 18th and will also be present at the Pet Valu Annual Convention from September 19th to 21st, and is currently being distributed to pet specialty stores across the country.
