Import update for raw pet food from New Zealand (CFIA Notification)
New Zealand ceased exports of raw or minimally heat-treated pet food containing avian origin ingredients to Canada in December 2024 due to an outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), with the exception of avian ingredients produced prior to December 2, 2024. New requirements have been added to the zoosanitary certificate for export of raw or minimally heat-treated pet food to Canada in order to allow export of products with avian origin ingredients to resume. New Zealand will begin issuing the new certificate as of February 28, 2025. Shipments certified prior to February 28, 2025 using the previous version of the certificate are still eligible to enter Canada.
Public Consultations on Costa Rica’s Potential Accession to CPTPP (Global Affairs)
Greetings from Ottawa,
We are reaching out to inform you that the Government of Canada has launched public consultations to seek the views of Canadians on Costa Rica’s potential accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
The CPTPP is a cornerstone of Canada’s engagement in the Indo-Pacific region, helping to create jobs, strengthen economic relations and boost Canada’s trade with important trading partners. The CPTPP is designed to expand over time to include new member economies. Costa Rica, and any other economy wishing to accede to the Agreement, will be required to meet the CPTPP’s high standards and commitments. These consultations will also help to identify any issues and concerns that are relevant when considering Costa Rica’s accession to the CPTPP.
The public consultations on Costa Rica’s potential accession to CPTPP are open from February 15 to March 16, 2025 at the following link:
